I believe that everyone deserves to be heard and supported without judgment. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and empowered to work through life’s challenges.
With a background in Social Work, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, families and individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral issues, and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices such as CBT, play therapy, and trauma-informed care.
When working with children, families, and parents, I focus on building relationships, strengthening communication, and equipping caregivers with tools to support their child’s/family's emotional development.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my children, going for walks/short hikes, and singing karaoke.
Before moving to Canada, I earned degrees in Psychology and Education, along with a postgraduate degree in Guidance and Counseling. When I arrived here, I found that my previous education wasn’t fully recognized—so I began again. I completed a Bachelor of Social Work, followed by a Master of Social Work with a Clinical Specialization. This journey involved a lot of learning, relearning, and unlearning. It deepened not only my knowledge, but also my empathy—for those navigating systems, cultures, and transitions (including losses).
I’m married and a proud parent of two. I speak English as well as three Filipino languages: Tagalog, Ilocano, and Kankana-ey. My lived experience as an immigrant and multilingual practitioner shapes the way I connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Starting my own practice has been both a challenge and a calling—because I’ve seen the real needs families face, including:
-Long wait times or limited access in public services
-The desire for a therapist who understands cultural identity, immigration, and their impact on mental health
-A need for child-focused care that blends clinical expertise with creativity and cultural sensitivity
Strong Foundations Counseling and Wellness was born out of these realities, with the hope of offering timely, compassionate, and culturally grounded care to those who need it most.
